AAT L2 CERTIFICATE IN ACCOUNTING

Overview

The Foundation Certificate in Accounting (sometimes known as Level 2) is the AAT’s entry level qualification, made up of four modules in bookkeeping and finance.

Alternatively students can complete the Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping qualification, which comprises the two bookkeeping exams, and then progress directly to the Advanced Diploma. Most students complete this level in 6 – 9 months.

AAT L3 DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTING

Overview

This qualification delivers a solid foundation in finance administration and core accounting skills, including double-entry bookkeeping, basic costing and an understanding of purchase, sales and general ledgers. Students will also learn about accountancy related business and personal skills and be introduced to the four key themes embedded in the qualification: ethics, technology, communications and sustainability.

Students should have completed the Foundation Certificate or Bookkeeping Certificate or have a relevant qualification or experience if starting at this level.

AAT L4 DIPLOMA IN PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTING

Overview

This qualification covers complex accounting and finance topics and tasks leading to students becoming confident with a wide range of financial management skills and applications. Students will gain competencies in drafting financial statements for limited companies, recommending accounting systems strategies and constructing and presenting complex management accounting reports. 

The Professional Diploma (sometimes known as Level 4) comprises three core modules, and two optional units from a choice of five. Once completed alongside six months relevant work experience, you will be able to apply for AAT full membership (MAAT).

AAT Foundation cert in Bookkeeping

The Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping is an entry level qualification made up of two bookkeeping modules. Once students have completed the Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping, students can progress directly to the Advanced Diploma in Accounting.

This qualification takes between 2 months and 6 months to complete. Alternatively students can complete the Foundation Certificate in Accounting qualification, which comprises five modules in bookkeeping and finance.

Aimed at experienced bookkeepers, the Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping qualification covers areas such as double entry bookkeeping, financial statements, intermediate spreadsheets and software use.
